Operations Manager at MIC Home and Healthcare Company

Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing delivery of quality and efficient organizational administration services in the MIC Home and Healthcare Company in line with established guidelines and standards as well as the Company’s strategic objectives.

ROLES AND RESPONSBILITIES

  • Lead the development of the operation’s functional strategy in line with the company’s overall strategy;
  • Lead in the liaison with the Kenya Medical training colleges to evaluate the authenticity of prospective nurses’ educational and professional certificates before the same are forwarded to Canadian authorities for processing.
  • Lead in the coordination of background checks on with the Kenya Nurses Union to establish the integrity and general conduct on prospective nurses to ensure that only those with positively confirmed integrity are progressed through the recruitment process.
  • Lead in the translation of documents done in local Swahili language; including local commendations (usually done in local dialects) to ensure documents are well prepared before forwarding the same to Canadian document evaluation bodies for assessment.
  • Lead in the evaluation of prospective nurses’ tax compliance standards in liaison with the Kenyan income tax offices and reference to Kenyan Tax laws to ensure that only tax compliant candidates are progressed through the recruitment process.
  • Liaise with the Kenyan directorate of criminal investigation offices to conduct thorough back-ground checks on prospective nursing candidates before progression to the recruitment process to ensure that only candidates with high integrity ethos are recruited.
  • Create a liaison link between the Kenya county ministry of health team leaders in ensuring that prospective nurse candidates are well experienced and exposed to community healthcare initiatives to allow the company nature a pool of highly experienced nursing service staff ready for deployment in the Canadian healthcare industry.
  • Prepare the Operations annual business plans to ensure delivery of the company’s strategic imperatives and make periodic adjustments as required;
  • Develop and ensure implementation of leading practice strategies in home-based care and nursing administration in line with the overall corporate strategy;
  • Develop and ensure implementation of the robust home-based care, nursing & administration policies and procedures in accordance with the organization’s core values, best practices, Kenyan nursing governing institutions and the Kenyan Labor Laws;
  • Work closely with affiliate medical underwriters to maximize efficiency in contracted nursing health care services.
  • Continually review and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the organizations’ home-based care and nursing administration policies, procedures and processes and identify improvement opportunities;
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary home-based care and nursing administration practices; Guide, coach and equip contracted nursing staff with skills and knowledge to enable them address diverse people related issues in their daily discharge of duties.
  • Continuously conduct risk assessment and analysis of operations issues and advise the Director on identified key risk indicators and their remediation plan.
  • Oversee delivery of efficient and cost-effective nursing services in order to ensure provision of safe and high-quality healthcare services in line with the company’s objectives;
  • Oversee the Hospital’s outsourced nursing health services to ensure delivery of highly motivated and caring nurses within partner hospitals and care-giver homes.
  • Oversee management of the Company’s human resources and all outsourced services in the Hospitals and home-based care centers including work placements, shift management, time management, transport logistics and welfare services in order to ensure efficient service delivery and value for money.
  • Prepare the operations budget and monitor its implementation upon approval by the company’s senior management committee.
  • Identify, deploy and motivate the operations team including performance appraisal, identification of training needs, mentorship and coaching as well as leave and absence management in line with the company’s people agenda; and
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management or any other related fields from a recognized institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration or any other business related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an operational administration and regulatory compliance with at least 5 years of experience at senior management level.
